Gary Allan honed his skills as a songwriter and performer in local bars with his dad and brother, refining his own musical style rooted in the true Bakersfield Sound in lines with the likes of Buck Owen,
Dwight Yoakam and Merle Haggard. He was soon signed to Decca and his 1996 debut album, 'Used
Heart For Sale,' hit top 20 and led to a string of chart successes and gold and platinum releases throughout his career, including his top 10 release 'Smoke Rings In The Dark' (1999), his top 5 albums 'Alright Guy' (2001), 'See If I Care' (2003) and 'Living Hard' (2007), and his 2005 hit 'Tough All Over' which entered at No. 1 on the Country Albums chart and climbed to the No. 3 position on the Billboard Top 200.
