New York, NY (Top40 Charts/ Ricburn Media) Spring is almost here. Canadian 'space-folk' band Dumb
Angel is counting down the remaining days until this season of renewal, as well as the release date of a third full-length album entitled Eight Moments Of
Spring (Clamour Records), with daily streaming songs via SoundCloud, here:
https://soundcloud.com/dumb-angel/then-and-now
Eight Moments Of Spring's opening track, "
Then And Now", is the first streaming track from the album. One new streaming song from Eight Moments will be added every day until the album's release date on Tuesday, March 20th. Along with these new album tracks, the band will also be streaming songs from their two previous albums.
"There was a strange synchronicity in the way that all these things about the new album - the title, release date, album launch show, etc. - just kind of happened to fall together unplanned around the theme of Spring", comments Shaun Mason, the main musical force behind the band. "So with this in mind, and seeing as how there are eight tracks on the new album, it made perfect sense to mark the last eight days of Winter by streaming a song a day from the album, and then to release the entire thing on the first day of Spring."
On March 19th, the release of Eight Moments Of
Spring will be celebrated with an album launch show at Casa Del Popolo in Montreal.

Dumb
Angel bio:
Eight Moments Of
Spring is the gorgeous, kaleidoscopic new album from Montréal-via-Saskatoon's Dumb Angel. Essentially a vehicle for the music of singer-songwriter Shaun Mason, as Dumb
Angel he etches out an distinct place for himself in the Canadian music spectrum with his compelling take on the folk genre.
Mason draws inspiration as much from the work of 1960s and 70s folk singer-songwriters such as Nick Drake, as he does from the 1990s British shoegaze bands like Slowdive, seamlessly blending these influences into what perhaps can only be described as 'space folk'. Not unlike some alternate musical reality where 1960s-era Fairport Convention were Jason Pierce's backing band.
Recorded in July 2011 with Jace Lasek (of The Besnard Lakes) at Montreal's Breakglass Studios, Eight Moments Of
Spring is the first Dumb
Angel album to step outside of the sparse guitar- and vocal-based framework of previous albums, and features the addition of drums, piano and bass. The new full band lineup works to heighten the transcendent, blissful qualities and dynamic subtleties of Mason's music, while maintaining the hushed, melodic, hypnotic center that has become his trademark.
Slated for a March 20th 2012 release (incidentally, also the first day of Spring) on
Clamour Records, Eight Moments Of
Spring promises to be an exhilarating step forward for Dumb
Angel as Mason, backed by a full band, takes advantage of his Montreal base and expands his musical reach, both within Canada and internationally.
An album launch event on March 19th and a series of short tours are in the works, as well as plans to record the follow-up full-length within the year.
