George Benson, Norman Brown, Ronald "Boo" Hinkson,
Lee Ritenour and Earl Klugh. After celebrating two decades as a performer, Charles is excited about his new CD "Songs From Deep Within" released early 2012. At the age of fourteen he was privileged to be tutored by Ken Archer and Orasio Lewis and moved onto studying with Keith Christmas, Jeffery Smith and classical guitar with Anthony Williams at the
Music College .
For Clifford, jazz is the musical expression that brings the greatest satisfaction to both artist and audience when he commands a stage. His musical journey on the circuit sharpened Clifford's fiery, yet free-flowing style on the guitar. Wes Montgomery, Charlie Christian and Trinidad's Fitzroy Coleman are also among his influences, he credits Jim Phillips (pannist), for introducing him to the soulful grooves of
George Benson.
"The whole creative process for this CD came from a great feeling that I had within myself
based on all the positives that surrounded me" says Clifford. "The goal of this new project is that it brings wider acceptance among the international jazz community which includes jazz radio, jazz festivals in the USA and Europe, jazz fans, jazz promoters, distribution and a possible record deal".
Clifford has shared the stage with vocalist Randy Crawford, pianist
Joe Sample and the classic group 'The Drifters' as well as performed on flagship music festivals such as 'Jazz Artist On The Greens', 'We Beat Jazz', 'Jazz Point', 'Tobago Jazz Festival'.
Charles's new CD entitled "Songs From Deep Within" is a self-produced product. Clifford says "the creative process for this CD came from a good feeling that I had from within based on all the positives that surrounded me".
