New York, NY (Top40 Charts/ Lightening Entertainment) Armenian singer Sibil performed to a sold out crowd in Hackensack NJ over the past weekend. Her angelic voice mesmerized the audience: An audience made of from the NY/NJ Tri-State area flocked to Bergen County Academy located on 200 Hackensack Ave, Hackensack New Jersey.
Sibil was accompanied by great musicians such as legendary Majak Tosikyan as her musical director who composed to many famous singers such as Ajda Pekkan, Sezen Aksu, Tanju Okan and Nilufer. He was awarded the Gomidas Medal of Honor by the Armenian government in recognition for his contributions to Armenian music. He was also the recipient of "Lifetime Achievement Award " by the International Fethiye Megahit Mediterranean Song Competition Committee.
Pianist Burak Bedikyan gave a phenomenal performance who has shared the stage with the likes of
Vincent Herring, Stefano DiBattista, Deborah Davis and many more.
Melik & orchestra ,Cellist Anahit Gasgill , Violonist Diana Vasilyan and friends , Flutist Stephan Dadurian also shared the stage with Sibil on this magical night.
Shushi Armenian Dance Ensemble added their colorful Armenian dances to the performance choreographed by Artistic
Director Seta Paskalian Kantardjian.
Sibil performed songs from her debut album such as Namag," "Tsarav Seri" "Anor," Mernem," "Giligya," "Im Anoush Davigh, "Gyanki mi Hamar," "Siro Tzayni," and "Nayem" wer etc. The encore was "Yerevan Yerpuni " where she performed it twice due to high audience demand.
Born in Istanbul Sibil Pektorosoglu studied Finance in Istanbul. Since 1991, she has been a member and the lead soloist of St. Vartanantz Choir in Istanbul. She got her break in 1999 when she appeared on a production of Dikran Chookhajian's musical comedy 'Leblebiji, where she got the opportunity to meet Majak Tosikyan. Sibil sang beautiful songs in such an inspiring way that she became his best Armenian music interpreter
Sibil's voice continued to grow on the Armenian stage in Istanbul, in the Armenian churches as well as in the Holy Cross Armenian Church on the Island of Akhtamar. Her music videos got thousands of views by her Turkish and Armenian fans. Turkey's leading private TV channels, as well as the country's state-run broadcasters, broke new ground by airing Armenian music videos for the first time in Turkey's history.
In the summer of 2011, Sibil was invited to Armenia to sing at the opening and closing ceremonies of the Pan-Armenian Games.
On March 24 2012 Sibil performed in Los Angeles CA, with her pianist Burak Bedikyan at a special event sponsored by the Organization of Istanbul Armenians.
Sibil will be the recipient of "Armenia
Music Award" in the category of "Magical Voice on April 7, 2012 at a special ceremony which will be in Russia Concert Hall in Moscow.
