Thursday 17th May, acclaimed New York-based vocalist, vocal coach and songwriter, Wendy Parr, will visit the
Institute of Contemporary
Music Performance in Kilburn to give an exclusive masterclass to students. Wendy is dedicated to training artists, singers and teachers around the world with the highest quality of vocal technique and supporting them to reach their greatest potential.
Wendy is a former founding member of the SLS Organization and Instructor Management Team, responsible for the education of pre-certified and certified instructors world-wide. She has been an instructor of voice at NYU TISCH, Atlantic Theater Company, UCLA, Lab School NYC, and has led masterclasses in technique and performance in countries worldwide; including Australia, New Zealand, India, Austria, Poland, Liverpool, and London.
In addition to coaching, Wendy has performed and worked with a multitude of high profile artists, including Patti La Belle, Bette Midler, AR Rahman and Paula Abdul; her clients include platinum selling artist Nancy Sinatra,
Regina Spektor, Matt White,
Nicole Atkins, Suzie Q (India),
Leehom Wang (Asia), Rain (K-Pop), Mandy Gonzales (Wicked and In the Heights, B'Way), Mark of 2AM Club, Jaswinder Singh and actors Ann Cusack, Cyd Charisse and Brittany Murphy.
She has also written and recorded for AR Rahman (including the song 'Dreams on Fire' used on the Slumdog Millionaire Soundtrack), Dance Dance Revolution, Kangaroo Kids, Derek and the Darlings, Rhythm DB and her own Live EP. Her interactive workshop at the
Institute will focus on 'The Artist
Spirit ...The Road from Technique to Authenticity'. Using vocal exercises to improve the quality and health of the voice, she will help students to be able to express themselves more effectively, accurately and dynamically, opening the door for musical style and the pure joy of singing. She will focus on the skills required to maintain great vocal consistency and build strength which leads to the greater ability to style, and provide the tools artists need to stay healthy and consistent in a demanding touring, performing and recording schedule.
