Detroit over Memorial Day weekend, Basic is getting things started here in New York on Thursday, May 24th. They're very excited to bring in one of techno's most hard-hitting veterans - the Dutch icon
Speedy J. He'll be rocking (le) Poisson
Rouge with an extended set of his unique mind-melting techno that fuses the lines between DJing and live performance. This will be an unforgettable night of cutting edge music from an uncompromising artist we've admired for years, and the perfect way to jumpstart the holiday weekend.
Speedy J is the Rotterdam artist Jochem Paap, who has been a dominating force in experimental and underground techno since the early 90s. Seminal early releases on labels like Plus 8, Warp and Novamute cemented his reputation as a dancefloor producer who refused to sacrifice intelligence in his music., and he has continued on that path to this very day. Now running his own label Electric Deluxe, and a regular collaborator with the CLR camp,
Speedy J continues to expand his range as a performer and producer, dominating the world's largest festivals and events with his no-holds-barred approach.
As a live artist,
Speedy J has continuously pushed the boundaries of the traditional concept of the "DJ". He's always on the search for new technologies and new tools he can incorporate into his sets, with two laptops, Traktor, Maschine, and a variety of controllers under his command during his infamous extended sets into dancefloor mayhem.

Rouge debut, and as a fusion between a danceclub and a live music venue, Basic thinks LPR is a perfect fit for him. Joining him will be Basic's residents Sleepy & Boo, who are following up this event with two more massive nights of pioneering techno at (le) Poisson
Rouge - with Derrick May and Technasia on June 2nd, and Dave Clarke on June 9th. APlus Event's Ed Pulido and regular Basic guest Mike Murphy will join on the decks as well.
