Los Angeles, CA (Top40 Charts/ CineMedia Promotions) Lakeshore Records will release the Lola Versus - Original Score digitally on June 5, 2012 and in stores on June 12, 2012. The recording features original music by Fall On Your
Sword (Nobody Walks, Another Earth).
Greta Gerwig plays Lola, a 29 year-old woman dumped by her longtime boyfriend Luke (Joel Kinnaman) just three weeks before their wedding. With the help of her close friends Henry (Hamish Linklater) and Alice (Zoe Lister-Jones), Lola embarks on a series of desperate encounters in an attempt to find her place in the world as a single woman approaching 30.
"[Director] Daryl [Wein] wanted the score to be a reflection of Lola's character and be able to exist in her world," said Will Bates and Philip Mossman of Fall On Your Sword. "So in one sense it needed to sound like something that she and her friends would listen to, but, at the same time, help to portray the emotional arc of the movie. He really encouraged us to have fun with it."
And they did have fun with it. One early decision was to add brass to the score, which gave Bates the opportunity to learn a new instrument. He described, "Rather than turning to a session player I decided to learn the flugel horn thinking, 'how hard can it really be?' Quite hard as it turns out. There are a few scenes which feature long flugel horn chords. The parping and buff notes have been thankfully edited out."
