Davis, CA (Top40 Charts/ Jared Ingersol Music Management) Folk-rock singer-songwriter and guitarist Dave Nachmanoff returns to Virginia for a hometown celebration of his ninth CD, "Step Up," at Jammin' Java on Sunday, June 17, 2012 (Father's Day). Ticket prices for the all-ages show are $10 in advance, $13 at the door.
Doors open at 6 PM, and showtime is 7 PM.
Nachmanoff, who currently lives in Davis, California, was born and raised in Arlington, Virginia. For the CD release, he will perform with his brother Michael Nachmanoff (bass) Eric Greenman (drums), Jace Greenman (percussion and vocals), and Liz Bligan (backing vocals).
Dave Nachmanoff has built a grass-roots following across the United States. At age 9, he performed with folk legend Libba Cotten. In addition to his solo career, he tours as the lead guitarist and accompanist for singer/songwriter Al Stewart ("Year of the Cat"/"Time Passages"). With a PhD in Philosophy and a penchant for story-songs, Nachmanoff specializes in lyrics that are not typical cliché singer-songwriter navel-gazing angst-ridden diary entries. He's been described as having "an acoustic style that's somewhere between the easygoing charm of
Arlo Guthrie and the raw energy of Bruce Springsteen". In addition to frequent touring, he also writes and records custom songs and uses his recording studio to produce other artists.
"
Step Up" was produced by Ronan Chris Murphy, who is also originally from Arlington (although he and Nachmanoff met in L.A.) and features fantastic guest vocalists, including Al Stewart and Liz Bligan. Several of the tracks have already gained recognition in national songwriting competitions including the USA Songwriting Competition, the International Acoustic
Music Awards, and the Great American Song Contest. Sing Out! Magazine has praised his "… heartfelt, inspired songwriting … with a delivery both biting and assured."
Jammin' Java is one of the premier concert venues in the United States and remains a staple of the Washington, DC area music community. Ranked as one of the top 100 clubs in the world according to ticket sales by Pollstar Magazine, Jammin' Java has played host to thousands of musicians since its inception in October 2001.
Opening the show will be Washington DC-based singer-songwriter Tiffany Thompson. Thompson's rich, clear voice brings to life her poetic and personal lyrics, reminding listeners of Colbie Caillat,
Priscilla Ahn and Norah Jones. Playing both piano and guitar, Tiffany's dynamic stage presence and storytelling style are gathering her fans of all ages.
