NASHVILLE, TN. () - While he's the man who penned the NFL's Houston Texans' fight song, "Football Time In Texas," home boy Clay Walker will be singing a different tune when he performs at Major League Baseball's All-Star Game's Home Run Derby July 12. The Home Run Derby, a precursor to this year's American League/National League match up (July 13) takes place at Houston's Minute Maid Park and a portion of Walker's performance will air on ESPN. The Home Run Derby is baseball's ultimate power summit where members of that sport's elite 500 club - players who have hit at least 500 career home runs - are invited to come and hit one out of the park. Every living member of that club, retired and active, have been invited. Star hitters confirmed to be competing: Ken Griffey, Jr., Sammy Sosa and Rafael Palmeiro. Other players who will compete include Jim Thome, Jason Giambi and David Ortiz. The telecast of the July 12 Home Run Derby begins at 8:00 PM/eastern on ESPN. Walker is the only artist scheduled to perform.
