New York, NY (Top40 Charts/ Disc Makers) CD Baby and SoundCloud have announced a new partnership that will make it easy for indie artists to share music and collaborate with other musicians online. This partnership pairs the world's largest online distributor of independent music with the world's leading social sound platform.
"With just the click of a button, we'll sync the music you sell on CD Baby to SoundCloud for free," explains CD Baby president Brian Felsen. "Within 24 hours, your tracks will be in your SoundCloud account, and you can begin sharing that music using all the awesome tools SoundCloud has to offer."
SoundCloud integration is now part of CD Baby's standard distribution offering, which also includes distribution to all the major digital retail and music streaming sites (iTunes, Amazon, Google Play, Spotify, and others), Alliance CD distribution to thousands of brick-and-mortar record stores worldwide, a Facebook music store, a music-store widget, and much more.
"It's about simplicity," says Felsen. "CD Baby is making it easy for musicians to leverage amazing online tools without the headache of constantly re-uploading music and filling in song details."
This partnership gives CD Baby artists access to SoundCloud's community of musicians who are eager to comment and collaborate on tracks, and simple social features for sharing on Facebook, Twitter, blogs, and more. SoundCloud's timed-comment feature allows fellow musicians and fans to drop comments into a specific part of a song, whether it be a particular lyric, bridge, beat, or key change.
CD Baby members who are not already using SoundCloud can create a free account (allowing artists to upload a maximum of 120 minutes of audio) or get an exclusive 30% discount on SoundCloud's premium "Solo" level account which provides 12 hours of audio storage-space and expanded promotional tools.
"In the coming weeks, CD Baby and SoundCloud will be ready for an even deeper integration, allowing artists to take a track they've already uploaded to SoundCloud and distribute it through CD Baby to iTunes, Amazon, Google Play, Spotify, and more, with the push of a button," says Felsen. "We're all about removing obstacles and eliminating busy-work for independent musicians, and we're thrilled that SoundCloud is making it easy for their existing users to link up with CD Baby for worldwide distribution."
