Phoenix, AZ (Top40 Charts / Grand Canyon University) Grand Canyon University and Reach Records will kick off UnashamedTour 2012: Come Alive on Oct. 4. The tour will make visits to 30 major cities across North America, including a Nov. 2 stop at Grand Canyon University Arena.
The music label's co-founder and Christian hip hop artist
Lecrae will headline the tour and will be joined by Tedashii, KB, Trip Lee,
Andy Mineo and PRO. In addition to two Grammy wins, Lecrae's industry recognitions include seven Grammy nominations and Best Hip Hop
Music Video at the 2010 GMC
Music Video Awards. Lecrae's 2008 album "
Rebel" was the first Christian rap album ever to hit No. 1 on Billboard's Top Gospel Charts; his album "
Rehab" became one of the highest-selling Christian rap/hip hop albums in history; and "
Rehab: The Overdose" hit No. 1 on the hip hop and Christian hip hop charts in 2011.
"Lecrae is, by far, the leading hip hop artist in Christian music," said Scott Fehrenbacher, senior vice president of faith-based marketing at Grand Canyon University. "But more than his popularity on the Christian music scene, he has a powerful ability to cross religious and denominational boundaries with his music. His following includes Christian music fans and hip hop fans who typically listen to mainstream artists, a fact that propels his mission to 'Share the Gospel' with Christian and non-Christian listeners alike."
Reach Records and Grand Canyon University share a similar vision. While Reach Records uses music to inspire people to see the world in a new way through the eyes of the Gospel message, Grand Canyon University offers students of all religious backgrounds a Christian environment to find God's purpose in their life personally and professionally.
