Japanese Pop-Punk Band Shonen Knife to Play Long Lake, NY
Long Lake, NY (Top40 Charts/ Shonen Knife Official Website) On Saturday, July 28, 2012 the underground all-female Japanese pop-punk band, Shonen Knife, will be performing in Long Lake at the Mt. Sabattis Pavilion with opening act White Mystery. Doors open at 5pm and tickets are $15 and kids under 12 are free.

Shonen Knife is heavily influenced by 1960's girl groups, pop bands and early punk rock acts including the Ramones. The trio maintains an underground garage rock sound rooted in edgy instrumentation, but with the release of their latest album Pop Tune they've remained true to their DIY aesthetics with their "buzzsaw guitars, sugary harmonies and lyrics about all-you-can-eat buffets and paper clips." Review by S. Price, https://www.independent.co.uk

White Mystery, the opening band, is a brother/sister rock'n roll duo from Chicago. Miss Alex White is a "Top Ten Female Guitarist to look out for according to Guitar World. White Mystery self-released two full length albums that earned high scores from Pitchfork, LA Weekly, The Chicago Tribune, and Austin Chronicle, along with music videos named in the "Top 5 Weirdest Video Premieres" by MTV Hive. The high energy duo kicks out the jams with relentless touring, explosive sets, and what The Chicago Reader calls the "Best Band Merch."

Call 518.624.3077 for info. Tickets $15. Cash or check only. Sorry, no credit cards. T-shirts and merch will be available on site. The Mt. Sabattis Pavilion entrance located at 1100 Deerland Road on NYS Route 30. The Pavilion is a covered open-air facility. It is recommended to bring coolers, lawn chairs, a flashlight and flat shoes for the uneven ground. No glass bottles are allowed. No food sold, bring your own snacks! Be on the look out for bear, moose and wild turkeys.

This project is made possible with funds from the Decentralization Program, a regrant program of the New York State Council on the Arts, administered by the Adirondack Lakes Center for the Arts.
