SAN JUAN, PR (Kaydean Media) - Mente Urbana's exciting debut CD, Tormenta, is currently the biggest breakthrough in the Latin Hip-Hop and R&B scene. With a sound that manages to be as rugged as the NY streets, yet as warm as the Latin culture, Tormenta, is sure to be this year's juiciest listen in the Latin Hip-Hop and R&B genre. Produced in it's entirety by one of it's members, renowned producer Kaydean, Mente Urbana proves it takes more than a good beat or two to successfully combine the East Coast styled Hip-Hop and R&B groove with the Latin flavor.

Tormenta, whose songs are all written by Kaydean, Janid and Laser Rick clearly conveys in its opening song, "Ritmo Asesino," that Mente Urbana is the future of Latin Hip-Hop: "El futuro del Hip Hop se aproxima." "Ritmo Asesino" presents Mente Urbana as the new and powerful force in urban entertainment. The fun, ass-shaking, party track, "Lil' Sumthin'," perfectly demonstrates Janid's bilingual abilities as she sings in "Spanglish" "Turn it up que se oiga bien loud / Todo el mundo, keep on sweating". "Not the One" shows off the rich, multilayered textures of Janid's voice demonstrating five-part harmonies in a song that portrays a woman who is not willing to be taken advantage of.
"Blin Blin", Mente Urbana's first single, ingeniously weaves the band's point of view on showing off your rocks as Kaydean smoothly flaunts "Big rocks the gold watch and caviar / Girl, why you act like you don't wanna ride the hot shot," and Janid answers "Con tu Blin Blin, no me impresionas."
The poetic ballad, "Mi Adiccion," clearly conveys a romance and maturity that cannot be compared with any of today's hits. "Basta Ya" aggressively communicates the band's view on prejudice and racism as Laser Rick belts "Basta de amenaza, matanza, venganza, avanza, ?no te cansa? Hay esperanza."
The seductive track "Damn Fine" pulls everyone to the dance floor with its heated lyrics "Cada vez que me ves, yo te viro alreves" and intoxicating drums. The spellbinding ballad "Vuelve" again delights the audience with Janid's sultry and smooth harmonies.
Finally, in the autobiographical title track, "Tormenta", Janid and Laser Rick captivate the hearts of listeners with a feeling and a passion that prove why Tormenta positions Mente Urbana as the next Kings and Queen of urban Latin Music.
