Fall Fundraiser Event For 3rd Annual Tinderbox Music Festival
New York, NY (Top40 Charts/ Tinderbox Music Festival Official Website) The Tinderbox Music Festival will hold its first Fall Fundraiser event on Thursday, September 13, 2012, 7-10pm at The Lounge at WeWork in Manhattan. The fundraiser will include an open bar, food from local restaurants, a silent auction, customized tote bags, and a raffle for a free lunch with one of four influential entertainment industry reps. The event also features live musical performances by Alyson Greenfield (Tinderbox Festival Founder & Director), The Bandana Splits, and award-winning singer, actress and activist Nellie McKay (Verve Records) whose music has been heard on Weeds, Grey's Anatomy, NCIS, Privileged, Nurse Jackie, and Boardwalk Empire.

At this year's Tinderbox Fundraiser event, attendees will enjoy an open bar sponsored by Brooklyn Brewery, White Pike Whiskey, and New York Distilling Company. They will also have the opportunity to win a free lunch with one of four entertainment VIPs: Julie Klausner - a comedy writer/performer (Best Week Ever, TV Funhouse on Saturday Night Live); Bob Power - a Grammy-winning producer/engineer/mixer; Wesley Verhoeve - founder of Family Records and GNTLMN.com; and Michael Roderick - Networking Guru and Broadway Producer of The Scottsboro Boys.

The Fundraiser also features a special performance by multi-talented Nellie McKay, who has appeared on numerous TV shows including Late Show with David Letterman (with the Brooklyn Philharmonic), The View, Late Night with Conan O'Brien, Late Late Show with Craig Ferguson, Live with Regis & Kelly and CBS Saturday Morning. The London-born singer/actress/writer won a Theatre World Award for her Polly Peachum in the Broadway production of The Threepenny Opera (also starring Alan Cumming and Cyndi Lauper). She acted and sang in the film PS I Love You and wrote and performed the song score for the Rob Reiner film Rumor Has It. Her writing has appeared in The Onion, Interview, and The New York Times Book Review, where she delivered an incisive in-depth review of a Doris Day biography. McKay is also known as an outspoken and fierce advocate for feminism, civil rights and animal rights.

"We are absolutely thrilled to have Nellie McKay headline our event in order to help us raise funds for what is turning out to be our biggest festival yet! Nellie is a personal and musical inspiration, as well as a wonderful role model for young women. She stands up for what she believes in and gives her all to her artistic endeavors," says Greenfield. "We are also grateful for the generosity of The Bandana Splits and all of our sponsors in helping to support our vision of a female-fronted music festival that gives back to young women in the community."

About the Tinderbox Music Festival
In its third year, the Tinderbox Music Festival is an annual event showcasing a powerful and diverse lineup of established and emerging female artists producing innovative original music. Rooted in the vibrant New York City music scene, Tinderbox fosters community and supports aspiring young female musicians. This year's festival will take place at Webster Hall on Sunday, November 11, 2012 on 3 stages and will showcase close to 50 up-and-coming female fronted acts from around the world.

Founded by Brooklyn-based singer/songwriter Alyson Greenfield in September 2010, the Tinderbox Music Festival features female singers and female-fronted acts from all over the world spanning the genres Americana, experimental, hip-hop, indie-folk, prog rock, post-punk, electro-pop, and soul. This year, "freak folk" sister act CocoRosie will headline the 2012 Tinderbox Music Festival.

In addition, Tinderbox Music Festival donates 100% of its net proceeds to non-profit organizations involved in empowering the next generation of female artists including Girls Write Now, an organization providing guidance and opportunities for NYC's under-served high school girls to develop their independent voices and explore their careers, and the Willie Mae Rock Camp for Girls, a non-profit music and mentoring program empowering girls and women through music education and activities that foster self-respect, leadership skills and collaboration. This year the festival also benefits the Tinderbox Songwriting Workshop which creates space for young women to write songs with female mentors who are established musicians in NYC-- many of whom are Tinderbox Music Festival performers.

"The goal has been to create a sustainable platform for emerging artists which also benefits local nonprofits empowering young women," says Greenfield. "I really wanted this to be a full-circle event encompassing and affecting multiple communities."
