Alicia Keys To Headline MTV Crashes Manchester On 24th September
LONDON, UK (Top40 Charts/ Dawbell PR) Today, MTV UK has revealed 14-time Grammy-winning singer, songwriter and producer Alicia Keys will headline MTV Crashes Manchester on Monday 24th September at Manchester Cathedral.

In celebration of Manchester's long musical heritage and contribution to UK youth culture, MTV Crashes Manchester is a free, ticketed live music event, created in collaboration with Manchester City Council which will be filmed as an MTV World Stage - a global series that brings multi-genre talent with global relevance to audiences around the world through MTV's extensive global network.

Taking place in Manchester Cathedral - a unique and iconic landmark - the show will be Alicia Keys' first UK performance of songs from her highly anticipated new album 'Girl On Fire', which is set for release on 26th November.

"All of the love and work I've poured into 'Girl On Fire' has been for moments like this —when I'm able to travel the world and share the experience of performing my favourite songs with my family across the globe," said Keys. "I'm so excited to be a part of MTV Crashes Manchester and to celebrate music in such an inspiring and historic setting."

Cllr Rosa Battle, Manchester City Council's Executive Member for Culture and Leisure, said: "It is with great excitement that we will welcome Alicia Keys to Manchester Cathedral this month. She is one of the world's most talented singers and the marriage between her remarkable voice and the wonderful venue will be up there in the history of Manchester's many musical highlights."

The Very Reverend Rogers Govender, Dean of Manchester, said: "Manchester Cathedral has long opened its doors to both secular and religious events in the hope that we can, for our part, help support the life and community of this great city by aiding these special events to take place. "

Since releasing her critically acclaimed debut album 'Songs in A-minor' in 2001, Alicia Keys has gone on to sell over 30 million albums worldwide, win 14 Grammy Awards and become an international superstar. She is also an acclaimed, best-selling author, actress, entrepreneur and philanthropist serving as a Global Ambassador and co-founder of the Keep a Child Alive charity.

From the EMAs in Edinburgh in 2003, to the Isle of MTV Malta Special, to Belfast's MTV Presents Titanic Sounds, MTV Crashes Manchester continues MTV's long history of partnering with local tourist boards to create iconic live music events specifically for local fans and international music lovers. Over the years the network has entertained hundreds of thousands of music fans and delivered some of the most memorable local live events of the last decade.
