 DETROIT, Mich. (Ford Detroit International Jazz Festival) - Music Hall's 2004 Ford Detroit International Jazz Festival: Silver Anniversary Edition will continue its search for the next great young jazz idols during the second round of the Third Annual Heineken Jazz Fest Star Quest competition at Detroit's newest jazz venue Seldom Blues on Monday, July 26. The competition will begin at 7 p.m. Seldom Blues is located in downtown Detroit's Renaissance Center. The first competition took place at Baker's Keyboard Lounge on July 19. The third round competition will take place at Bert's Marketplace on August 2 and the finals will be held at Baker's on August 9. The winning band will win a slot at the 2004 Ford Detroit International Jazz Festival on the festival's Mack Avenue Records/metrotimes Pyramid Stage on Saturday, September 4 at 3:15 p.m., the opening day of Jazz Fest 2004, along with a cash prize of $500. This year's festival takes place on Labor Day weekend, September 4-6. Headliners include Aretha Franklin, The Ramsey Lewis Trio and Lou Rawls. Groups must be new, emerging jazz talent. No solo acts will be part of the competition. Legendary Detroit jazz musicians and educators Louis Smith, Jack Pierson and Ernie Rogers will serve as judges.
