Pussy Riot is a Russian punk performance art collective. On February 21, 2012, five members of Pussy Riot staged a protest performance in the Cathedral of Christ the Savior in Moscow. Three of the performers, Maria Alyokhina, Nadezhda Tolokonnikova, and Yekaterina Samutsevich, known as Masha, Nadya, and Katya, were arrested and charged with felony hooliganism motivated by religious hatred. As their trial unfolded, these young women became global feminist icons, garnering the attention and support of activists and artists around the world. They were sentenced to two years in prison, and inspired a global movement.

Feminist Press is an independent nonprofit literary publisher that promotes freedom of expression and social justice. FP was founded in 1970, and recent additions to their roster of groundbreaking activist literature include Virginie Despentes' KING KONG THEORY, Jana Leo's RAPE NEW YORK, and Justin Vivian Bond's TANGO: My Childhood, Backwards and in High Heels.
