Toronto Independent Music Awards And Friends Go Back To School
Toronto, ON (Top40 Charts/ Toronto Independent Music Awards) On Saturday, October 6, 2012 at the Phoenix Concert Theater, the 6th Toronto Independent Music Awards (TIMA 2012) will be recognizing and celebrating the best in independent music. As a way of giving back to a community that has helped shape the culture and sub-culture of not only Toronto but Canada as well, TIMA will be donating 100% of 2012 proceeds to MusiCounts.

"Music is the universal language, it's an integral part of our history," said Daniela Oliva, TIMA Founder and Executive Producer. "In this time of funding cuts for music in schools, MusiCounts is playing a vital role to ensure that Canadian students have access to music education. I don't know where I would be if I hadn't had music in school, and that's why we are donating to MusiCounts. We look forward to a lasting relationship, and can't wait to hear from the next generation of musicians and artists!"

About The Toronto Independent Music Awards
The Toronto Independent Music Awards (TIMA) was born in 2004 out of a passion for music and the artists who sacrifice so much to make it. TIMA Founder and Executive Producer, Daniela Oliva lives and breathes the indie scene. She grew up playing music, hitting the road as tour support, and consuming live shows like it was her job. Experiencing the highs and lows first-hand Daniela realized the wealth of amazing music that never reaches a larger audience, and decided to create a platform dedicated to recognizing independent music.

TIMA is a celebration of the incredible local talent Toronto and Canada has to offer. The show is not only a unique opportunity to see a wide variety of independent acts in one place, but it also provides artists with valuable tools. Supported enthusiastically by the industry, TIMA award packages are donated by a range of partners and include packages like free recoding time, photo shoots, assistance with marketing and publicity, radio airtime, meetings with A&R executives, and more. Winners are selected by the TIMA Grand Jury, a panel of experienced insiders, including successful recording artists Bif Naked and Jully Black, and many other industry heavyweights from labels, booking agencies, and PR firms. The latest addition to the TIMA family is MusiCounts, a charity focused on keeping music education in Canada's public schools. All proceeds from TIMA 2012 will go to MusiCounts.
