Black Enterprise Jazz Festival.
Jazz newcomers and notables are among the artists to be featured in a series of sizzling performances at the Verizon Wireless Theater in Houston on Saturday, October 2, 2004. The festival will spotlight an energetic fusion of jazz artists and styles, from well-loved legends and classic rhythms to rising stars and unconventional timbres.
The Audi Black Enterprise Jazz Festival will feature continuous performances on indoor and outdoor stages from 3 p.m. to 9 p.m. The audience will experience performances by artists that include:
* KEM: In his debut CD, KEMISTRY, KEM's passion for words, blend of vocal textures, and soulful style combine to captivate listeners and cross over genres.
* Joe Sample: He is returning to his home city of Houston. The masterful technique and personal reflections of this acclaimed keyboardist and composer elicit a strong, genuine emotional response.
* Spirit Music Sextet: The group features Me'Shell NdegeOcello, celebrated bassist and multi-Grammy nominated vocalist. Spirit's fearless creativity melds innovative compositions into a mosaic that frees minds and opens hearts.
* Pieces of A Dream: Referred to as the essence of the smooth jazz explosion, Pieces will feature Love's Silhouette, the group's latest chart-topping CD.
* Jimmy Sommers: His Lovelife CD features Sommers' infectious alto sax, which is spirited yet sensual, making music without boundaries.
