2012 Midi Shanghai Electronic Music Festival
New York, NY (Top40 Charts/ Midi Music Festival) Get ready to wrap up yourself up in toilet paper and dust off your kitten-ears hairbands, because this October's Midi Music Festival is landing right around Halloween. The all-day electronic music festival will be on October 27, going hard from 12:30 pm to 9:30 pm, so you can take your toilet paper mummy costume out for a test-run slightly before the traditionally celebrated date. That's not all though - the festival will once again be a certain shade of green, promoting environmentalism and sustainability with a variety of thematic performances, competitions, and exhibits. Of course, if you're just as willing to watch the world slowly decay under the crushing overabundance of particulate matter (PM), you can pay for your ticket and get your head-bang/mosh pit on with the blissfully ignorant masses. No one is judging, but you should probably recycle whatever TP parts from your body to avoid serious reprimand.

Music
You didn't come here to save the world, you came to rock! So what does this October's Midi Fest offer in that arena? There will be three main stages: the Bass Stage (重低音舞台), the Traditional Electronic Stage (经典电音舞台), and the Reggae/Hip Hop Stage (雷鬼说唱舞台). Check out Chacha's genre-bending trip hop on the Hip Hop Stage, ride some heady beats with Intransikbeats' Minimal Entropy and Steven Lorenz (doing solos on the Traditional and Bass stages, respectively), or get destroyed by EMPFAB's fast-pace breakbeat-laden wobbles on the Bass Stage. Foreign and Chinese groups alike will all be featured, and there's no question you'll find something up your alley among the 27 featured artists.

Focus on the Environment
This year's event will be organized in cooperation with the environmental organization "Green Drinks" which will be promoting awareness of environmental issues through a variety of activities. The musically-inclined activists among you will be drawn to the "Green Hip Hop Lyrics Competition" which apparently invites contestants to try their hand at a spitting sustainable rhymes on eco-friendly issues. Aside from that, there will be a smorgasbord of organic foods, "green" drinks, and even the festival apparel will be made from reclaimed or recycled garments. Non-Musical Events

Of course, if you're just there for the festival atmosphere, there are tons of events for you too! Live painting and graffiti will be featured, as well as parkour (or free-running), skateboarding, and a high-tech 3D visual performance and laser light show from America's very own "Caffeine Culture." And of course booze.

Get your tickets in advance in order to save 80 yuan (tickets at the door will cost you 200 yuan. The festival will be located on Shanghai's Pudong Lujiazui Riverside Avenue (the entrance is in the middle of the channel of the Silver City Road Fai Building, No. 9 and No. 99, near South Pudong Road).
