Halcyon was recorded in Goulding's hometown in Hay Valley, West England with producer Jim Eliot who has turned out tracks for popular artists such as
Kylie Minogue and Ladyhawke. The album, which features the chart-topping hits "Hanging On" with English rapper
Tinie Tempah and "Anything Could Happen," debuted at number two on the UK Albums Chart and number nine on the US Billboard 200.
Most recently, Goulding has received attention for her relationship with famed dubstep artist
Skrillex who she collaborated with on his popular EP Bangarang. Of Skrillex's influence on the development of Halcyon, Goulding told the Associated Press, "It's really good to have one person, regardless of whether they're a musician or not, it's good to have one person to keep referencing to and asking (his or her) opinion. He's definitely been good to have around during the making of "Halcyon."
Halcyon is the follow up to her 2010 release
Lights which debuted at number one of the UK Albums Chart. Fans picking up tickets to the Halcyon Tour can expect an extended mixture of favorites from both albums.
Ellie Goulding will also perform at some of the hottest Jingle Ball radio station holiday concerts in MN, AZ and CA this December.
