Aretha Franklin Joins Barbra Streisand To Celebrate A Master
Los Angeles, CA (Top40 Charts/ Brokaw Company) Aretha Franklin and another of America's most legendary singers, Barbra Streisand, came together to celebrate the life and legacy of Marvin Hamlisch, one of the greatest songwriters for stage and screen of the last half century. Aretha Franklin and Barbra Streisand reminisced backstage at the tribute to the late Hamlisch held at the Juilliard School of Music in New York.

Aretha said, "Barbra and I had a great time talking about our special little sorority of singers. We both have bittersweet memories of Marvin."

At the invitation only event at Juillard, Ms. Franklin sang "Nobody Does It Better" and "Deep River," while Ms. Streisand performed "The Way We Were" and "Through the Eyes of Love," both to standing ovations. Liza Minelli, Itzhak Perlman and Lang Lang were among the other artists participating. The Juilliard School was the alma mater of Marvin Hamlisch.

Celebrities attending included Sarah Jessica Parker, Candice Bergen, Michael Douglas, Catherine Zeta-Jones, Regis Philbin, Mike Nichols and Diane Sawyer.
