LONDON, UK (Top40 Charts/ VISION MUSIC PROMOTION) Bringing a truly cinematic flavour to the Loomis & Jones Recordings camp is the aural architect Khafru. Inspired by the likes of Amon Tobin, Autechre, Trent Reznor, Burial and Eskmo, Khafru's latest offering - the IDM, Cinematic 'Mirrors Become Doors At Night EP' showcases his true scope as a foley artist specializing in expressionistic, avant-garde IDM.
Trained in the art of sound design by pioneers that have defined cutting edge film sound, and an active sound designer himself in the film post production industry, this latest EP by Khafru, aka Abhi Malhotra, fuses cinematic sound design with abstract tones, foley textures, atonal spaces and rhythmical arrangements.
Based in Los Angeles, California, and having been immersed in the LA music since early teens, Khafru's interest in audio production grew from his DJ and musical talents and his keen interest in the IDM, Dub, Breakbeat and Cinematic music genres. This saw him form the IDM music group 'ORBL3Y', comprising of veteran musicians that have composed music for cult classics such as Apocalypse Now and Bram Stoker's Dracula.
Khafru's Musical objective is fueled by the strong belief of "Music as Cinema" with emotional arcs and resolution in its arrangement. Drawing from this belief and his audio production background, the overall aim of the EP is to produce a short experimental film around each of the three tracks, each with its own creative style, unique production design and cinematic concept.
