Purchase Stony Island On DVD And Support The GRAMMY Foundation

New York, NY (Top40 Charts/ GRAMMY) Cinema Libre Studio and Chicago Pacific Entertainment have earmarked a portion of proceeds from DVD sales of Stony Island, the 1978 directorial debut by Andrew Davis (The Fugitive, The Guardian, Holes), to benefit the GRAMMY Foundation. For each DVD copy of Stony Island purchased at the Cinema Libre Store using the code stony2012 through Dec. 31, $5 will be allocated toward supporting the GRAMMY Foundation's GRAMMY in the Schools program.

A tribute to Chicago's South Side musical heritage, Stony Island tells the story of Richie Bloom (Richie Davis), who forms an R&B band with his best friend, Kevin Tucker (Edward Stoney Robinson). With the help of their mentor, aging sax legend Percy Price (Gene Barge), they put together a funky supergroup. Despite limited resources and various obstacles, the dedicated group of musicians come together to finally make their smash debut. In addition to Barge, Davis and Robinson, the film features a cast that includes vocalist/keyboardist Ronnie Barron, jazz singer Oscar Brown Jr., actress Rae Dawn Chong, producer/director George Englund, actor Dennis Franz, and the Bangles' Susanna Hoffs.

The DVD features a performance by GRAMMY-winning saxist David Sanborn, as well as a 36-minute short film featuring Public Enemy's Chuck D and GRAMMY winner Quincy Jones, among others, reflecting on the impact that music has had on their lives.
