LONDON, UK (Top40 Charts/ Quite Great Publicity) Sweden's finest Lo-Fi Grunge Pop revivalists, Francobollo, can be defined by stage hogging fans, fuzz soaked singalongs and their likelihood to lose their clothes at any given opportunity. The new EP 'Basketball' to be released this November, mixed by Rich Cooper (The Who/Kanye West/Sex Pistols) produced, and released on London based upstart label SnakeTown Records.
"Francobollo will rock your world" - John Kennedy, XFM
"I'm lovin' these slacker vibes!" - Huw Stephens, RADIO 1 Simon Nilsson (vocals/guitar) Sean Bean (drums) and Petter Grevelius (guitar) hit the shores of the UK from Sweden in 2009, soon picking up Londoner Sam Bailey (bass). They've honed their raucous brand of infectious grungy pop, steadily picking up a legion of dedicated pit-filling Francophiles along the way. Combining dashes of Bob Hund, Pavement, LCD Sound system and QOTSA, they've created a sound that soon pricked the ears of Tom Robinson, John Kennedy and the grassroots blog-world. Earlier this year Francobollo achieved critical acclaim from a huge audience with the youtube sensation 'I Found a Bike Today', receiving over 60,000 views to date. Starring actor Adeel Akhtar of Four Lions & The Dictator and directed by Sam Bailey, it has even made it's way onto Adam Buxton's BUG! On SKY Atlantic in August 2012.
Now teaming up with SnakeTown Records, they have produced a new video and a huge set of recordings which continues their mission to bring you the finest beat driven Scando-Pop with the release of the 'BASKETBALL EP'. Since recording the EP, XFM DJ John Kennedy has championed the record, making it his 'Hot One' of the week on his Xposure show and hosting a live session the following week, featuring an interview with the band. It has also been played and tweeted by Huw Stephens on Radio 1.
The single 'Basketball' was released digitally on the 29th of September and is now available on iTunes, along with the new video on YouTube. The Physical Release is Stocked in Rough Trade record shops available November 24th. The release party is at Catch, 22 Kingsland road on the same date. Free entry.
