New York, NY (Top40 Charts) Opeth are currently performing a few tour dates in their native Sweden; as Mikael Åkerfeldt told us in a recent exclusive interview, "I think we're probably a bit more of a cult band in Sweden... If we keep ourselves in the big cities, we're fine, but if we go into the smaller cities, we can play pubs, or smaller venues.
So we're not really... I think we're more well-known than popular, if you know what I mean." Maybe that explains why they're playing intimate, sit-down theater shows, like this one at Södra Teatern in Stockholm on December 4.
Here's some killer fan-shot footage of the band playing "Atonement," from 2005's Ghost Reveries, and a cover of the obscure Swedish band Hansson de Wolfe United's "Var Kommer Barnen In." Enjoy!
