Old Lyme, Conn. (Top40 Charts) Audio specialist Sennheiser announced that it has completed CNTRL: Beyond EDM tour as official sound sponsor. The tour, which was initiated by world leading DJ's Richie Hawtin and Loco Dice, explores the history and future of the Electronic Dance
Music (EDM) genre and in its east coast debut was successful in reaching and inspiring hundreds of students and aspiring EDM music producers in both the U.S. and Canada [watch video].
As official sound sponsor, Sennheiser was an active participant, ensuring that every performance and lecture featuring Richie Hawtin and Loco Dice was delivered through its premium microphones and wireless systems - and monitored on stage through its world-class DJ headphones such as the HD-25-II. Sennheiser also played a critical role throughout the tour providing its audio expertise and technical support to the performers and staff.
"It is very exciting to see what we have been able to achieve in these first months and the interest we have ignited among so many students," commented Hawtin. "As our major sponsor and partner in sound, Sennheiser's contribution has been integral to the CNTRL tour and our mission to educate and inspire the next generation of producers, DJs, technology innovators or advocates of the electronic music scene. Sennheiser is a company that understands the importance of uncompromising audio integrity so it is extremely reassuring for myself and the other DJ's on our tour, that with Sennheiser's support and equipment our music will be heard as we intended it to be."
The CNTRL tour, which Hawtin says was designed to entertain, inspire and educate, has featured a combination of educational daytime lectures on music technology presented by Dubspot, followed by an evening of electronic music with Richie Hawtin, Loco Dice and others. The events have focused on the techno and technology aspects of modern-day electronic music, while presenting the more futuristic and underground side of the genre, as championed by Hawtin and Dice and their peers for the last two decades.
Richie Hawtin, a DJ who had an enormous influence on techno music in the early '90s, is best known for his miminalist works under the nom de plume Plastikman. He is a legend in the EDM music genre and helped pave the way for artists making use of laptops and digital mixing equipment in their DJ productions.
The tour, which began on October 29th in Buffalo, NY, made key stops at 17 highly regarded campuses in the U.S. and Canada, including Berklee College of Music, University of Michigan, Drexel University, McGill University and others.
