Indian Music Legend AR Rahman Once Again In The Race for Oscar

Chennai, Tamil Nadu (Top40 Charts) Names of music composer AR Rahman and music composer Srivalsan J Menon, hailing from Kerala have been recommended for the esteemed Oscar Award. The Oscar Award is the highest felicitation received once in a while by Indians.

Although Indian movies, Indian music composers, and Indian celebrities are recommended for Oscar, they do not receive the award. The movie 'Lagaan' starring Aamir Khan went till Oscar and returned empty-handed. Aamir Khan once commented that movies should be original. He added that movies should not be outright copies of English movies and there is no use lamenting after not having received Oscar for such movie.

Music composer AR Rahman won not just one Oscar, but bagged two Oscar Awards for contribution in 'Slumdog Millionaire'. Along with AR Rahman, Sound Engineer for the movie, Rasool Pookutty received Oscar Award. Although AR Rahman's name was recommended for contributions in movies following that, he did not receive Oscar thenceforth.

The name of AR Rahman, who already bagged Oscar, has been recommended again. AR Rahman's name has been recommended for music composition in Hollywood movie titled 'People like Us'.

Also, name of Mollywood music composer Srivalsan J Menon, who did music composition for 'Saint Dracula', has been recommended for Oscar.

For the movie 'Saint Dracula', Sherin Catherine, just aged 24, penned two songs for the movie. In a development, both of the songs have been recommended for Oscar under 'Best Songs' category.

The movie 'Aakashathinte Niram' written and directed by Biju Kumar and pairing up Prithviraj and Amala Paul has been sent for Oscar under 'Best Movies' category.
