Preservation Hall Jazz Band Announce Performances At The McKittrick Hotel
New York, NY (Top40 Charts) New Orleans-based Preservation Hall Jazz Band (PHJB) is thrilled to return to New York City and the The McKittrick Hotel, home of Sleep No More for "Crescent City Stomp," an 11-night New Orleans-themed residency at The McKittrick, January 3 - 13, 2013. Each evening, commencing at 8pm, will feature live music from PHJB with surprise guests and performances, abundant space for dancing, and New Orleans-inspired cuisine and cocktails. Due to popular demand, late night performances beginning at 11:30pm have been added on January 4th & 5th and 11th & 12th. Additionally, on January 12th, PHJB welcomes special guests The New Orleans Bingo! Show, a popular multimedia, musical game show cabaret act. Tickets for "Crescent City Stomp" are $25 and on sale now atwww.sleepnomore.com.

Preservation Hall Jazz Band derives its name from Preservation Hall, the venerable music venue located in the heart of New Orleans' French Quarter, founded in 1961 by Allan and Sandra Jaffe. The band has traveled worldwide spreading their mission to nurture and perpetuate the art form of New Orleans Jazz. Whether performing at Carnegie Hall or Lincoln Center, for British Royalty or the King of Thailand, this music embodies a joyful, timeless spirit. Under the auspices of current director, Ben Jaffe, the son of founders Allan and Sandra, Preservation Hall continues with a deep reverence and consciousness of its greatest attributes in the modern day as a venue, band, and record label. PHJB began touring in 1963 and for many years there were several bands successfully touring under the name Preservation Hall. Many of the band's charter members performed with the pioneers who invented jazz in the early twentieth century including Buddy Bolden, Jelly Roll Morton, Louis Armstrong, and Bunk Johnson. Band leaders over the band's history include the brothers Willie and Percy Humphrey, husband and wife Billie and De De Pierce, famed pianist Sweet Emma Barrett, and in the modern day Wendell and John Brunious. These founding artists and dozens of others passed on the lessons of their music to a younger generation who now follow in their footsteps like the current lineup. The New Orleans Bingo! Show is a late night, early morning ride through Downtown New Orleans. It's the soundscape created by the sirens, a calliope, a car alarm in a dark alley, the pulse of the nightclubs, a horse-drawn buggy, the church bells, the brass on the street, and a passing conversation. A jagged series of vignettes and a songbook of love letters written while delivering food on a bicycle. A spinning wheel of possibilities entangling the audience in a game of chance. It's a Musical Game Show Cabaret. It's the desire to be someone else, with your name in lights. For more info, visit www.neworleansbingoshow.com.
