New York, NY (Top40 Charts/ Electric Lotus Label) The
Roots Music Arizona trio releases their latest album "Fast Cars, Guitars, Tattoos and Scars" in February 2013, on Electric Lotus Label. Voodoo Swing remains faithful to retro, roots music and traditional American rock'n'roll: painting rich contemporary nuances with greasy touch of darkness.
Voodoo Swing is Shorty Kreutz on lead guitar and vocals; Leeroy
Nelson on drums and hollerin' and Tommy Collins on the doghouse double-bass. Their unique style of "rip-it-up" Rockabilly first attracted England's Nervous Records in 1993. Voodoo Swing's debut album "We're Usin' Code Names!" is followed by a second album, "Well, Okay Then!" released on Netherlands' Rockhouse Records label. Voodoo Swing is also featured on Rockabilly compilations "American Rumble" and "The
Sounds of Gasoline''. The band also scores the soundtrack for the Lowrider documentary "Low and Slow" as well as for the full-length feature film "Rockabilly Vampire". In 1998, Shorty is awarded "Best Electric Guitar Player" by Salt Lake's City Weekly Magazine reader's poll. In the early years, the band headquartered in Salt Lake City. After a long hiatus, the band regrouped in
Phoenix and released their third record, "Greasers Por Vida", then criss-crossed the Western USA on their "Back From the Grave" tour. In 2010 the band, released "Refried Voodoo Beans" produced by Olivier Zahm, album redesigned and reprinted by Electric Lotus Label in 2011. "Keep on Rollin'", Voodoo Swing's first Electric Lotus Label release premieres in the summer of 2011. This proved to be the trio's most popular release to date, backed by sponsors, Gretsch Guitars and Knucklehead Strings. After a tour in
Europe last summer, they're back in the USA, to record their latest album. A big new step in their creative work, blending diverse roots music influences.
2013: Primal Vintage and modern Retro virtuosity
2013 marks the band's finest work in their 20-year career. "Fast Cars, Guitars, Tattoos & Scars" is a 14-song masterpiece that represents the band's thoughts, angst, joy and trials of living music. With the support of their producer Olivier Zahm, they expand sonic American landscapes to pedal steel, piano, saxophones (from bass to alto), fiddle, banjo…They stretch their sound beyond more blues, bluegrass, honky-tonk as well as loads of talented guest musicians: notably the crooner Pat Roberts (& The Heymakers), the multi-instrumentalist powerhouse Shea Marshall, as well as country fiend Tony Martinez.. The trio's energy is intact, perfectly captured by the old-school recording process at Electric Lotus Music. 'Fast cars, Guitars, Tattoos and Scars' is faithfull to retro, roots music and American rock 'n roll sound, but seamlessly adds rich contemporary nuances and a touch of darkness. A subtle, tasty and energizing blending of primal and sophisticated, of old and new that will satisfy both rockabilly music purists and run under the skin of a larger audience keen of Rock, Blues and alt-country. The album will be released on February 20, 2013. The band will hit the road as soon as January 2013 to present it in Southwestern American states, then in Viva Las
Vegas 2013, before flying to
Europe in for the whole summer. France, Belgium, Netherlands, Germany, Austria, Switzerland… the 2013
Europe Tour covers more countries than last year. Voodoo Swing's music is getting deeper and wider. The ambassadors of authentic roots music you don't want to miss on stage!
