New York, NY (Top40 Charts) fun. has announced their upcoming "Most Nights" summer headline tour with very special guests Tegan and Sara. The Grammy-nominated band's biggest North American headline trek to date will get underway July 6th at Toronto's Downsview Park and then travel through mid-September, hitting legendary indoor and outdoor venues including New York City's Pier 26, Denver's Red Rocks Amphitheatre, and The Greek Theatres in Los Angeles and Berkeley. Tegan and Sara will join fun. on most dates (see itinerary below).
A pre-sale for fun. and Tegan and Sara fans will take place from Wednesday, February 6th at 12 PM (venue local time) to Thursday, February 14th at 10 PM (venue local time) via www.ournameisfun.com. American Express® Cardmembers can also purchase tickets before the general public at that time. Tickets go on-sale to the general public Friday, February 15th and Saturday, February 16th, depending on venue. For complete details and ticket availability, please see https://ournameisfun.com/tour.
A portion of the ticket sales from the tour will benefit The Ally Coalition, a partnership created by the band and designer Rachel Antonoff devoted to encouraging and inspiring the music, fashion, and entertainment communities to take action in support of LGBTQ equality. Each tour stop will showcase The Ally Coalition Equality Village, featuring TAC as well as other local and national LGBTQ equality organizations. In other news, fun.'s album "SOME NIGHTS," recently reached RIAA platinum certification status for sales in excess of one million.
fun. will perform live at the upcoming 55th Annual Grammy Awards, to be held this Sunday, February 10th, 2013 at Staples Center in Los Angeles and broadcast live on CBS from 8-11:30 pm (ET/PT). The NYC-based band is of course among this year's most-nominated artists, having earned six total nominations including a prestigious "Best New Artist" nod. "SOME NIGHTS," their RIAA platinum-certified debut, was nominated as "Album of the Year" and "Best Pop Vocal Album," while the worldwide #1 single, "We Are Young (Feat. Janelle Monáe)," was named in the "Record of the Year," "Song of the Year," and "Best Pop Duo/Group Performance" categories. What's more, producer Jeff Bhasker is among the "Producer of the Year, Non-Classical" nominees, specifically honoring his work on "SOME NIGHTS."
The multiple Grammy nominations already assure fun. a place in music history, establishing them as the first-ever rock band to score nods in the top four categories: "Song of the Year," "Record of the Year," "Album of the Year," and "Best New Artist."
fun. will follow the U.S. tour with an epic international trek that will see them performing in Japan, Australia, New Zealand, Malaysia, the Netherlands, France, Ireland, Germany, Switzerland, Italy, Austria, and the United Kingdom.
fun. capped their extraordinary year with the worldwide release of their own "iTUNES SESSION" EP. Recorded at the storied Capitol Records Studio in Los Angeles, the EP (available exclusively on the iTunes Store) pairs unique versions of "SOME NIGHTS" favorites like the latest single, "Carry On," alongside a genuinely special cover of Van Morrison's classic "Queen of the Slipstream."
The release of "
Carry On" was heralded by fun.'s stunning performance of the track on NBC's Saturday Night Live. With the song in the top 10 at alternative radio, the companion video is already proving an online favorite, drawing nearly 6.5 million individual views. In addition, fun.'s SNL performances of both "
Carry On" and "
Some Nights" can be viewed at the band's official website, www.ournameisfun.com.
