Who Is This New Act In EDM, (We Are) Nexus?
Chicago, IL (Top40 Charts/ (We Are) Nexus Official Website) There is a new act in the Electronic Dance Music scene: (We Are) Nexus. Think Tech House meets World Music. Rich, clean lows coupled with world rhythmic grooves, using real instrumentation, and catchy vocal lead line melodies.

Lyricist/vocalist Carmen Rainier provides the vocal edge and lead line melodies behind the (We Are) Nexus sound. There is no doubt about it, Rainier delivers sexy, stimulating, and provocative vocals, something EDM fans worldwide are eating up. With lyrical lines such as "Close your eyes and see me with your ears / In pitch perfect resonance / I exist within the deaf silence / Can you hear the sound of my beat," it's no wonder Rainier is getting rave reviews from her original material.

Producer/composer Nick Gunn, makes up the other half of this dynamic duo and is the backbone behind the world music influence in the (We Are) Nexus sound. Classily trained at the Royal School of Music in London, Gunn comes from a highly successful career in world music, having produced 14 albums which have sold over 2 million copies under the bill Nicholas Gunn. After his fifth album, Gunn started his own label, Gemini Sun Records, which was distributed by Warner Music Group/ADA, and represented over 75 like minded world music artists.

So why the switch to EDM? "Where do you go after releasing 14 albums in world music?" questions Gunn. "I have always been a huge fan of EDM and I got to the point in my career that I wanted to jump in without wasting any more time. The music we are making with (We Are) Nexus is like an amped up version of my past career, just way cooler!"

So who do they sound like? They've been told Tube & Berger, Eric Prydz, Lanny May, DJ Steve Lawler, but mostly they just sound like themselves.

(We Are) Nexus produce and write all their own original material in their professional studio located in the West Loop of Chicago. They pride themselves on creating a unique sound all their own. "Our music is a Tech House meets World Music love child. We use real instrumentation recorded in our own studio--flutes, congas, palmas, vocals, flamenco guitar strums. We make our own sounds, basses, kicks, we don't use any pre-made loops. So it's 100% original. It's deep, it's meaningful, it's involved. We have a unique sound that's different, but at the same time fits right in," says Rainier.
