REVEREND PEYTON'S BIG DAMN BAND - BROWN COUNTY, IN
Between the Ditches has been received with enthusiasm since its debut at #1 on the iTunes Blues chart week of release. They've received critical raves in the US and internationally, video play from CMT and MTVu, charting at both college and Americana radio and inclusion in the hit Showtime series "
Shameless" starring
William H. Macy.Roaring out of the southern
Indiana foothills, Reverend Peyton's Big Damn Band, plays a brand of Americana and Blues that stands alone - Delta blues and hillbilly fervor combine with musical acuity sharp as razor wire. Their new album Between The Ditches is a chronicle of this lifestyle. Since it arrived in August, excellent reviews have appeared in publications like Vintage Guitar, Classic Rock Magazine, Alternative Press and Living Blues. Their fifth album celebrates the growl of a good truck engine, the fiercest passion for theircountry home and the importance of family. STAR & MICEY - MEMPHIS, TN
It has been one hell of a time for Star & Micey since the release of their I Can't Wait EP on Ardent last fall. Appearing on the Americana
Music Festival, Folk Alliance Conference, NPR's World Café, as well as dozens of live shows, the band has also enjoyed praise from Oxford American, Daytrotter, Blurt Magazine, The Owl Mag, Brite Revolution and other great music magazines. Produced by
Dennis Herring (Elvis Costello, Counting Crows), the EP captures the band's live spirit while showcasing their heavenly vocal harmonies and pop hooks. I Can't Wait features guest musical performances by Big Star's Jody Stephens,
Dennis Herring and the
Memphis Symphony Orchestra's
Jesse Munson. The band has spent the last four years charming fans and critics in equal measure, earning raves from the likes of Paste Magazine, who named them the "#1 on the list of 12 Tennessee Bands You Should Listen to Now" saying "…Star & Micey have crafted then steadily smoothed out a brand of folksy pop that brings to mind
Memphis legends Big Star and The Avett Brothers." They were invited to perform at the Paste Studios, check it out here: https://www.pastemagazine.com/blogs/av/2011/05/live-from-paste-star-micey.html
KEVIN BOWE - MINNEAPOLIS, MN
In the wake of rave reviews for his latest album, Natchez Trace,
Kevin Bowe is hitting the road for a national tour and showcases at SXSW, where he'll also perform with Gary Louris of the Jayhawks. As a songwriter whose songs have been featured on Grammy winning albums and earned him a few platinum records, the fruits of
Kevin Bowe's labors are often given to other performers, but not this time. Natchez Trace is a personal compendium of rock, country and folk tunes that reflect his worldview and when it came time to record them, he did not mess around. Bowe invited friends including Nels Cline (Wilco),
Scarlett Rivera of Bob Dylan's band, Chris and Curt Kirkwood of the Meat Puppets, Freedy Johnston, Chuck Prophet and Tim O'Reagan of the Jayhawks to participate, among others.
He collaborated with Paul Westerberg for "Everybody Lies", one of the album's highlights, it is now available on Rollingstone.com here: https://www.rollingstone.com/music/news/everybody-lies-by-kevin-bowe-featuring-paul-westerberg-free-mp3-20120928
THE COPPER GAMINS - MEXICO/SAN ANTONIO
From the mountains of Mexico to the Mississippi delta to the garages of 1960s
America to the Hollywood silent film studios of yore, The Copper Gamins cover some major musical ground with just guitar, drums and vocals (and the occasional less-than-fully-strung mandolin). With a sound that ramps up primitivism into a modernist atomic blast, they play what The Big Takeover hails as "raw cacophonic trash rock with wild child naiveté" with "dirty, unrepentant 'bash the blues to hell' delinquency." They've announced their new album Los Niños de Cobre, out March 19th on San Antonio's Saustex Records. https://www.reverbnation.com/thecoppergamins
CHURCHWOOD - AUSTIN, TX
Think there's nothing truly new under the full moon shining down on the Delta crossroads where blues music was proverbially born? Well, think again and listen up. On their 2011 debut album, Churchwood "found its groove near the Dadaland exit off Highway 61," according to the Austin Chronicle. Now with Chuchwood 2, the visionary quintet extend and intensify their potent musical mojo with 10 intoxicatingswamp water shots of truly 21st Century rocking blues that's "dense and nasty, literate and mean," says Lone Star Music. With the CD hitting stores February 19th and vinyl arriving in April, Churchwood will play a flurry of
Texas shows before heading to the Midwest in support of "2", with dates coming soon. Listen here: https://soundcloud.com/western-publicity/sets/churchwood-2/
