LONDON, UK (Top40 Charts/ Vision Music Promotion) Statuettes - Jacques, a robin's debut album, a collection of seven chamber-pop ballads saw a very small self release back in 2011, and is now set for a full CD and digital release in May 2013. It was originally launched live to rapturous acclaim at The Cube in 2011 accompanied by a small ensemble of local musicians and vocalists, plus dancers, visuals and poetry.
Produced at Bristol's Robot Club with Stew Jackson (Phantom Limb,
Massive Attack), Statuettes features guest musicians such as Beth Porter (Eliza Carthy) and Patrick Duff (ex-Strangelove), who says: 'I consider Jacques to be an authentic artist, a unique voice in music today'.
Jacques' velvety baritone sets his mysterious storytelling within a kaleidoscope-like ambience created by violin, guitars, cello, french horn, clarinet, flute, double bass, piano, backing vocals, drums and percussion, studio effects and snippets of musical concrete.
With echoes of Antony and the Johnsons, Scott Walker and Syd Barrett, Jacques, a robin's singing and songwriting stem from
Davide Ariasso's soul journey originating in Italy, his country of origin.
His dark, sensual and solitary music investigates archetypal themes, literary characters and dreamy, eerie, melancholy stories that seek to inspire a search for truthful expression. Jacques'/Davide's interests lie also in film, body performance, visuals, poetry, spirituality, fiction and essay writing.
