New York, NY (Top40 Charts/ Missing Piece Group) On April 30th, singer-songwriter Shannon McNally will release Small Town Talk, a moving tribute to the catalog of Bobby Charles. February 21, 2013 would have been the 75th birthday of the swamp-pop legend and prolific songwriter that penned hits for the likes of Bill Haley and the Comets and Fats Domino.
Small Town Talk was produced by recent Grammy-winner and Rock and Roll Hall of Famer Dr. John, who also played on the album. Both Dr. John and Charles were performers in the Band's farewell concert, The Last Waltz.
Small Town Talk features 11 tracks penned by Charles that were handpicked by McNally, Dr. John, and Charles himself. "We got together with Bobby every day talking about songs and picking out the right ones to include," says McNally about her meetings with him and Dr. John. "We ended up selecting 'Long Face,' 'Small Town Talk,' 'Street People,' 'Good Place Now' as well as a few more obscure songs." Other songs include "Cowboys and Indians" featuring Derek Trucks on guitar and "String of Hearts," a duet with Vince Gill.
Recently, USA Today premiered the album's first single "I Must Be In A Good Place Now," which you can listen to here: https://usat.ly/157gpnL
