Motortrain Take To The Road
New York, NY (Top40 Charts/ Head First Entertainment) Ump, guitarist and lead vocalist for Oklahoman red dirt rockers Motortrain has been hard at work for the past few months writing and demo-ing material for the band's sophomore effort. A road dog at heart, he's decided that it's time to take a break from being couped up and has decided to test some of his new songs in front of an audience. "Our debut EP was fun, but it was rushed. Over the last year we've all really been diggin' deep to build this full-length album out. We didn't want to make an album just because it was time, we wanted to make one because we had something to say. Of course, when you've been stuck in the studio all winter like we have, you want to get out and stretch your legs a bit, so that's what we're gonna do. Get out, road test some new songs, and meet some new faces."

The new release, a full-length, self-titled album is scheduled for release in late summer of 2013 and will feature songs such as "Briars and Barbed Wire", a hat-tip to the bands' state line location and the rivalries that run between them, and "Whiskey Fingers" which pays tribute to lead singer Ump's granddad, Don Schauf, who played peddle steel and fiddle up in Wichita, KS back in his day. He was in the local backing band for anyone who came through town, playing for folks like Earnest Tubb, Waylon, and Merle. Because he was stricken with Polio he never got to tour, so instead the band is taking his legacy on the road.
