LONDON, UK (Top40 Charts) In just over two years
Superstar DJ
Afrojack has become a multi-award winning, platinum-selling artist. He has just signed a global deal with Universal
Music to release his next album and will release 'As Your Friend' featuring
Chris Brown as his first single through Island Records on June 2nd.
The track gives fans a taster of what they can expect from the superstar DJ/producer's first album as a solo artist; a blaze of larger than life beats, larger than life production, off-kilter pop hooks and euphoric melodies. A total assault on the senses, this rousing, stadium-sized anthem is sure to set the summer alight in clubland and beyond.
Afrojack wrote the song along with Chris Brown, Polow Da Don, DJ Buddha, Leroy
Styles and Nadir Sakir and produced it along with Styles, DJ Buddha and Polow da Don.
The rise of the superstar DJ over the past few years has been immense.
Afrojack has been a member of an exclusive collective that includes the likes of
David Guetta,
Tiesto and DeadMau5, all of whom regularly play to hundreds of thousands of people at a time and can sell-out the world's coolest clubs in minutes.
Afrojack introduced 'As Your Friend' at Clive Davis' 2013 Pre-Grammy Gala earlier this year, where he included it in an electronic set meant as a representation of dance music culture. It's now Number One on the Billboard Dance/Club Chart.
After kicking off 2013 with live dates around the globe, followed by last weeks' performances during Ultra week in Miami,
Afrojack is preparing for a grueling word tour that will include a Creamfields performance in the UK, a summer European leg with ample shows on Ibiza and a huge fall tour in the USA.
Originally from Holland,
Afrojack made a name for himself across the globe in 2011 with club hit 'Take Over Control'. Since then, his impressive list of collaborations include: Beyoncé with 'Run The World (Girls)',
Pitbull and
Ne-Yo with 'Give Me Everything', which has sold over five million copies worldwide and the massive 'Titanium' with
David Guetta.
Ranked at No 9 on the DJ Magazine Top 100 for 2012,
Afrojack has also won two Grammys: Best Remix for Madonna's 'Revolver' and Best Rap/HipHop track for Chris Brown's ''Look At Me Now'. He also gained a Grammy nomination for his remix of 'Collide' and has also remixed Will.i.am,
Lady Gaga and Michael Jackson. His recent remix of Keane's "
Sovereign Light Cafe" became a critically acclaimed success, merging dance music with Keane's unique style.
Nick van de Wall, aka
Afrojack also actively runs an imprint label called Wall Recordings with a roster that includes releases by artists like R3hab, Quintino and
Sidney Samson.
