LOS ANGELES (Top40 Charts/ Earshot Media) Chicago's Stayposi Records can exclusively announce that Lights Over Bridgeport (www.facebook.com/lightsoverbridgeport ) will enter the studio on May 6th to begin work on an EP scheduled to be released this summer. The band will track drums with Mark Michalik (The Swellers, Fireworks, Into It. Over It., Castavet) in Chicago, then head to Michigan to track guitars and vocals with Swellers' guitarist/vocalist, Nick Diener. Diener will be credited for producing this forthcoming release.
Lights Over Bridgeport is best described as "blue collar punk" similar to bands like The Swellers, Broadway Calls, and Alkaline Trio. "We don't wear makeup or costumes on stage. What you see is what you get," said front man John Hamlin. After demoing a track at Flashpoint Academy in Chicago, the band was discovered and quickly courted by Stayposi Records, a small indie label focused on using music to help those in need all while elevating bands to indie stardom.
"This is an incredible moment for a band like ours. Let me say this carefully, and articulate as clearly as possible: I am floating with gratitude over this opportunity," said Hamlin.
In the meantime, Lights Over Bridgeport will share an acoustic, live video of a song called "Prayers & Eulogies" which will be included in the material being recorded for the EP at the end of April.
