Music USA has signed a worldwide, multi-year co-publishing agreement with singer/songwriter Josh Doyle, the first signing of the joint venture between John Shanks and Imagem Music.
Guitar Center named Doyle "the nation's top undiscovered singer-songwriter" in the brand's very first singer-songwriter competition last year. He beat out more than 17,000 entries and, as the competition's victor, received an album produced by Grammy Award-winner Shanks.
Doyle, a UK native, was compelled to write music from the age of 13. He founded buzzing rock outfit The
Dum Dums in 1997 and the group's debut album spawned four UK Top 30 hits. After the band split in 2001, Josh received an overwhelming number of requests to return to music. He crafted 2004's cathartic EP The End of Fear and the title track gained numerous placements, galvanizing his new endeavor as a songwriter. Doyle's rabid fan base continued their support by donating the money to record three more EPs in anticipation of the Guitar Center competition.
Josh's self-titled debut album has received rave reviews; he's already been featured on Jimmy Kimmel Live, The Daily Buzz, Good Day New York, and more. After continued indie success on his own, the road in front of him is wide open. With big music business muscle behind him and the best talent in the world backing him up, the next chapter is bound to be the greatest.
"I'm excited to be joining the Imagem family," said Doyle. "I've already started to feel the enthusiasm within the company for my songs and I'm looking forward to seeing what we can get done as a team. Onwards and upwards!"
"Josh is a gifted songwriter that I was captivated by," recalls Shanks. "Not only his voice but his insight into the human spirit that he connects and empathizes with by song. He brings to life universal feelings of unrequited love and loneliness in his playing, his voice, and his songs. He is truly a singer-songwriter in the purest sense of the term and we welcome him into our Imagem family."
"Josh is a fantastic talent. The fact that Shanks took such an immediate interest in Josh as a performer and writer speaks volumes," commented Rich Stumpf, President of Imagem Music. "We are thrilled to have him in the family."
About Josh Doyle:
Before Josh Doyle was even old enough to drive, the UK native was compelled to pen songs from the age of 13. While attending Chichester University, he founded rock outfit The Dum Dums. The group's debut album for MCA Records, It Goes Without Saying, spawned four UK Top 30 hits, earning them a supporting spot on tour with
Robbie Williams before the band split up in the midst of creating their sophomore album. Doyle then relocated to Nashville and began crafting and independently releasing the EPs The End of Fear, Values and Virtues and Middletown, and Songs From The Nuclear War Vol. 1 & 2. In 2012, Doyle won Guitar Center's Singer-Songwriter competition, beating out 17,000 competitors and receiving a three-song EP by Grammy Award-winning producer John Shanks. Now partnered with CTK Management and Neil Warnock of The Agency Group, the Shanks-produced, critically-acclaimed Josh Doyle was released in Oct. 2012, and featured the single "Solarstorms." Josh has been featured on Jimmy Kimmel Live!, CBS This Morning, Marie, The Daily Buzz, Daytime, The Better Show, Good Day New York, The Nick & Artie Show and more.
