Red Letter Days Band To Release Its First EP "Sounds Like A Plan"
St. Louis (Top40 Charts / Red Letter Days) St. Louis-based siblings, Katie and Willy McKenna are venturing onto the national music scene with their band, Red Letter Days, and the release of their first EP "Sounds Like a Plan." The strong female fronted band, Red Letter Days, intends on winning over fans with their catchy, hook driven, rock sound blended with high-energy upbeat, pop-punk style.

To celebrate the release, Red Letter Days will participate in a live streaming, acoustic performance through www.stageit.com on Thursday, May 23 at 8 p.m. EDT.

The band will also launch a national college radio campaign beginning May 21. National radio promotions company Planetary Group is handling the campaign. Currently, Red Letters Days is #5 on the ReverbNation Alternative Charts for the St. Louis and Missouri area.

The band recorded in Los Angeles last year with notable recording engineer Joshua Smith (credits include Social Distortion, Selena Gomez , and Macy Gray ), and co-producer Jeffrey David ( Dave Wakeling of The English Beat and O-Town) to create a high quality, professional recording with a timeless sound.

Self-starters Katie and Willy are releasing this album on their own label called Left of Center Enterprises with the intention of establishing themselves in the music business as a hard working, independent band. In 2011, they added Alex Bolano as their lead guitarist, who immediately made a positive impact musically.

What makes Red Letter Days stand apart from other family bands, aside from their unique chemistry, is that Willy and Katie are brother and sister. Many other up-and-coming family bands are either all female leaning like Haim (three sisters), The Veronicas (two sisters), and Tegan and Sara (identical twin sisters), or they are all male like 30 Seconds to Mars (two brothers), The National (two sets of brothers) and Kings of Leon (three brothers and a cousin).

Honoring the "family-band" concept the McKennas naturally fall into, the duo chose Red Letter Days as a homage to their late grandfather who kept a daily journal in which days that were special to him were marked as "Red Letter Days." According to Willy, "The name has a double meaning for us; first it's a link and a tribute to one of the most important people in our lives, and also, using his definition, we consider any days we get to play our music to be Red Letter Days."

In addition to being the lead vocalist and lyricist for Red Letter Days, Katie is the founder and creative director for Pink Sheep Heiress, an American rock & roll inspired collection, featuring upscale ready-to-wear as well as original concert performance wardrobes for celebrities.
