New York, NY (Top40 Charts/ Mike Colin official website) Lifetime Alternative/Indie/DIY
Music Artist Mike Colin will release a new 10 song CD on iTunes, CDBaby, AmazonMP3, GooglePlay and several other online retailers May 28, 2013.
Crystal Cage Producer Zhitkur Roswell had this to say about the project, "This is a first for Mike because it's more or less a traditional Alternative Pop/Rock kind of album. I've been listening to him for over a decade and even though he has always had a couple of regular-type songs with every batch there has been an eclectic mix of electro, experimental, you name it. We recorded 16 songs (the 6 b-sides are at Bandcamp.com) and there is not one experimental type thing in the bunch. I forced him to put an older experimental piece as an extra b-side because I thought 'where's the weird?' but in the end I understand that Mike wants to progress and do more and be out in the world again and he wants to put his best foot forward."
Engineer Jean-Paul Georges adds "It's still Mike and if you go back and listen to the first stuff he ever did like the Phantasmorgasm and Cactus
Marco albums you can hear the exact same sense of songwriting except now he's got a lot more experience and maturity. Pick a year from 1989 until now, any year, and Mike did something and it sounds like Mike."
Summmer of 2013 has Mike venturing out to do shows with his new bands. The "cafe" version, as Mike calls it, is Colin and Zhitkur Q. Roswell Jr. as the DJ. The "concert" version consists of Mike and his 23 year old son Jovian Lucero-Colin on guitar, his 21 year old daughter Hanalina Lucero-Colin on bass and her boy-toy Elza Joshua Breen on drums. Each have their own musical projects as well; Jovian's band is Millennial Axiom, Hana's is Mors Volpis and Elza's band is called The Eclectix. Did I mention that Hana and Elza also have been the rhythm section in Denver's Discount Cinema for a couple years now? Whew.
Live shows include two appearances at Event64, Colorado's Mega
Music & Arts Festival July 4-7 as well as dates in Omaha, Chicago, St. Louis, Kansas City, Austin and Tulsa.
"I'm taking the rest of the year easy after these shows but I'll be back in 2014 with even more Adult Alternative insanity in the form of new album(s) and a tour of the whole USA!" - Mike Colin
