On January 25, 2012 Mike Hranica announced in an interview with Noisecreep that the band is working on their fifth album and that the album will be darker than Dead Throne and lyrically more sad and miserable, Hranica also stated that guitarist Chris Rubey has come up with material that is absolutely relentless. Hranica went on to comment that he is very excited on the keyboard parts they've been working on since James Baney's departure describing them as "very dark and intense". The band have already begun writing the album and plan to begin recording the album after they finish their tour with As I Lay Dying with a current release projected for late summer/early fall.
On February 20, 2013 the band announced that guitarist Chris Rubey will be missing the band's immediate touring with As I Lay Dying to tend to his newborn son. Samuel Penner of For Today will be Rubey's temporary replacement.
The Devil Wears Prada have been performing a new track titled "Gloom" at recent live shows, the final studio version of the song is due to appear on the groups next studio album, which will see a fall release through Roadrunner Records. That album will be produced by Matt Goldman (Underoath, The Chariot) with Killswitch Engage guitarist Adam Dutkiewicz executive producing. The new album will be released on September 17, 2013
