Brandy Norwood to the world in 1994. He remembers how
Brandy Norwood was a gifted singer with a one of a kind voice. "I met her when she was only 13 year's old singing at a talent show. I remember her being one of the most motivated artist I've ever worked with. Brandy's hard work and dedication is why she's such a success.
Brandy has one of the best voices ever," says Chris Stokes.
"Growing up, my favorite group was "New Edition." I loved the opportunity to do the remix to
Bobby Brown's song "
Get Away". I told myself that I would have my own group like
New Edition one day," says Stokes. That was when the visionary created "Immature". Immature had two certified gold singles off the "Playtime is over" album, which sold over 1 million copies. Immature quickly became every girl's favorite singing group with their hit singles, "Never lie" which was written and produced byChris Stokes and Claudio Cueni. Immature was also featured on the "Dangerous Minds" movie
Soundtrack which sold over 3 million copies with their song "Feel the Funk". "With the success of Immature I wanted to start the group B2K, which ended up being one of the biggest urban boy bands in history," says Chris Stokes. Stokes developed B2K into being adored by fans across the world. B2K had two consecutive platinum selling albums and was nominated and won several awards during their career. Out of B2K sprouted Omarion, which went on to have an amazing solo career, also winning many awards of his own.
With the success of the multi-platinum super group B2K, multi platinum Immature and Omarion, the visionary Chris Stokes quickly became the man in the music industry known for developing million dollar mega boy band groups to record company executives.
But a lot has changed since the days of boy bands. "Social Media." Now the industry strives off social media, it seems a lot easier to break into the music industry without being "Artist Developed." When asked about how social media has changed and influenced the music industry and his life Chris says, "I think there is a negative and positive result to the new social media craze. On one hand, it gives artists out there who would have never had the opportunity to be discovered a chance to be seen by executives and that's good for undiscovered talent. For the rest of us who have worked so hard to establish success the old fashioned way, it can be a little negative, especially with the blog site element. They can put a perception on someone's name that's not true, whether you're an artist, or an entrepreneur like myself. That's a form or defamation of character. I don't appreciate internet cyber bullying at all. It's not fair. With me, it gets hard because I have four children. My 8 year old son reads lies about his father, when I'm his hero."
Chris Stokes will forever stake his claim on music industry history with unit sales of over 20 million worldwide on artist he's worked with.
