LOS ANGELES (www.MySpace.com) - MySpace.com, a leading web portal built to mobilize people around shared interests, today released its first hip-hop compilation CD, "Stimulus and Response". The 10 song CD is headlined by The Black Eyed Peas, and includes 9 additional tracks from emerging hip hop artists with profiles on MySpace. "We compiled this CD to show our support for the hip-hop community," said Chris DeWolfe, CEO of MySpace.com. "It's one of the fastest growing communities on MySpace with amazingly talented and passionate artists." MySpace.com's unique features are drawing devoted hip-hop fans and artists. Fans can chat with and exchange e-mails with artists, listen to new music and find out when they are playing in their local area. Artists can get immediate feedback about their music and interact with their fans. "It's cool that people can just hit up will.i.am or Taboo on MySpace," said Tom Anderson, President of MySpace, "MySpace has become a place where both established and new artists can make new fans and friends." The first of its kind, the new service changes the way the Web can be used to appreciate music. The site offers music lovers and musicians an easy, intuitive way to navigate and fully experience the multi-faceted, fast-paced world of music, offering capabilities such as: - Downloads - The free service lets bands and musicians put up to four MP3s on their own custom web page and share it with existing MySpace members through the MySpace Music Player. - Direct Connect with Bands - Thousands of bands have already created profiles, from which they can make use of every site attribute: sharing music, lyrics and pictures, updating fans on recent news and tour info, and selling CD's and band merchandise. MySpace users can also add band profiles to their friends list. - User Testimonials and Ratings - gives the review element associated with music media sites, but in this case you may know and trust the reviewer. - Network and Mobilization Capabilities - Through the MySpace network bands can tap into a wide variety of music business contacts to meet club owners, find promoters and book tours. Additionally, it allows a band to reach a brand new fan base to fill up venues while on tour. MySpace.com is distributing copies of the CD at promotional events around the country as well as to DJs and radio stations. The CD was produced by Roslynn Cobarrubias of 3rd Floor Radio in association with Mike Merriman, DJ Butta, and DJ Remark.
