New York, NY (Top40 Charts/ Republic Records) After months of anticipation and speculation, THE WEEKND took to his socials to personally reveal that his sophomore full-length album, Kiss Land, will arrive
September 10 in stores and via all digital retailers. Immediately, #kissland began trending worldwide as fans enthusiastically spread the news.
In addition, fans are able to pre-order the record now https://www.myplaydirect.com/the-weeknd. They'll instantly receive a download of his latest track "Belong to the World", and they'll also have the chance to upgrade their order and reserve deluxe album packages, including the vinyl.
Kiss Land follows up his unanimously celebrated platinum-selling 2012 debut, Trilogy. Tapping into that same signature mystique, this second effort is an elegant pastiche of love, longing, and lust set to a futuristic soundtrack of shimmering keys, disruptive synths, and airy atmospherics. It's dark. It's dangerous. It's decidedly sexy. It's THE WEEKND.
Recently, "Belong to the World" hit iTunes and other digital outlets. Bolstered by his seductive crooning and simultaneously warm and wild soundscapes, the track immediately transfixes. Its nearly eight minute music video was shot on location in Tokyo and Japan. The clip premiered on MTV and was subsequently featured by the likes of Pitchfork, Billboard, The Fader, Earmilk, and more. It belongs in your playlist now.
Covering Complex Magazine's August issue, he speaks about the new album, his vision, and what's next for himself. He also recently scored two MTV VMA nominations in the categories of "Artist to Watch" and "Best Visual Effects" for the "Wicked Games" video.
Meanwhile, he will hit the road on a headline jaunt of North America, The Fall Tour, starting September 6-7 with two shows in Vancouver, British Columbia, traversing the U.S. and then concluding in Toronto, Ontario with three hometown shows October 17, 19-20.
