Cleveland, Ohio (Top40 Charts/ Great Scott P.R.oductions) Nineteen years after releasing their fourth album, "The Party's Over…Thanks for Coming," The Party is back with the release of the boisterous hip-pop single "Salute to Summer." The group wrote and produced the track now available on iTunes while working on their forthcoming reunion album, "The After Party," which is penciled in for release this fall.
"The first single from our 1990 debut album, 'The Party,' was 'Summer Vacation,' so what better way to come back with the new grown and sexy 'Salute To Summer,' which brings it back to where it all began and serves as the prelude to an amazing reemergence in the music scene. What's cool is that we are writing and producing everything ourselves unlike our previous releases. We're artists and even though we were all doing other projects, you can't shake that bug or the undeniable magic that's created when we are making music and on stage together," said The Party, which consists of Albert Jeune Fields, Chasen Hampton, Deedee Magno Hall and Damon Pampolina.
The band recently emerged from the recording studio and stepped into the sun to shoot the "Salute to Summer" video with director Reggie Patron. The clip for what they hope will prove to be a perennial summertime classic opens with a flashback to footage of the group when they formed as teenagers and dissolves into present day action with the summer fun taking place with festive friends on a boat, in a pool and at a house party.
The Party members met while in the cast of "The New Mickey Mouse Club" and at age 15, were recruited to be the first project released by the Disney-owned Hollywood Records. The label put the multiracial group together with surefire songwriters and platinum producers including Teddy Riley, Dr. Dre,
Diane Warren, Allee Willis, Robbie Nevil and Billy Steinberg, which resulted in a string of singles to hit the Billboard Hot 100. For four years, The Party was a permanent fixture on the cover of national teen magazines generating a fanatical following further fueled by frequent television appearances on the Disney Channel. Frenzied fans swarmed the band on mall tours and voraciously scooped up tickets to see them perform their playful soul-pop tunes and slick choreographed dance moves on coast to coast concert tours with Vanilla Ice,
Color Me Badd and Hi-Five. After the recording sessions for the new album are complete, The Party is eager to hit the concert stage to reconnect with their fans.
