New York, NY (Top40 Charts/ Missing Piece Group) "Whatever makes the audience stomp their feet and sing at the top of their lungs, that's what I want to be doing," says singer/guitarist Chris Carrabba of TWIN FORKS. Their debut self-tltled EP is due out on
September 17, 2013 on Dine Alone Records. Together with mandolin player Suzie Zeldin, bassist Jonathan Clark and drummer Ben Homola, Carrabba harnesses the acoustic spirit of his work with
Dashboard Confessional and channels it through the rootsy classic folk of his childhood. What the four of them create are songs that are anthemic enough for massive singalongs and personal and intimate enough for listening on an iPod.
Twin Forks will be launching into a six week national tour, starting in Orlando, FL on
September 17, circling the States and wrapping up on October 29 in Houston, TX (dates below). A special pre-sale available to fans is available at https://twinforks.ducatking.com. In addition, SPIN.com is exclusively premiering the tour trailer featuring the song "
Cross My Mind" and can be see here: https://tinyurl.com/twin-forks-spin
Kicking off with the rousing hoedown of "
Back To You", complete with hoots and hollerin' in the background, the Twin Forks EP is a perfect introduction to what the band is about. From the soaring vocal melodies of "Something We Just Know" and whistle-led skip of "
Cross My Mind" to the propulsive Celtic closer "Scraping Up The Pieces", the five song EP is celebratory and its energy...infectious. "When I started playing acoustic-based music, I wasn't trying to avoid traditional folk because I didn't love it -- I just loved it so much and didn't wanna do an injustice to it," Carrabba notes. "And I had other influences and I thought, why can't I combine this punk and hardcore feeling with this classic folk feeling -because they were both such massive loves of mine. But right now I'm more excited about utilizing the age-old, time-tested thing and trying to excel within the parameters of a traditional template."
With his multi-platinum band
Dashboard Confessional on indefinite hiatus, Carrabba decided to get smaller instead of getting bigger. Pulling together friends from other bands (Zeldin from The Narrative, Homola from Bad Books) and old friend Homola on drums, they crafted a sound that balances their punk and alt-rock backgrounds with music of a more traditional flair. With recent shows at SxSW, Montreal's Osheaga Festival, and a national tour with Ivan &
Alyosha and Lone Bellow, Twin Forks attracted a legion of fans who are ready for the band's next step, and this EP is exactly what they've been waiting for. "The goal is always to do our best to get it right in the same room with each other, looking at each other, laughing with each other," Carrabba explains about the chemistry within the band. "I think you can feel that all over the songs."
Twin Forks will be released via Dine Alone Records on
September 17, 2013.
