New York, NY (Top40 Charts) The hard rock band from Albury, South Wales, Australia known as Idle Threat have released their standout new EP record, "Resist Not Evil," to the delight of longtime fans everywhere. The EP consists of six new, original tracks for an approximate total playing time of 25 minutes. A collection of Idle Threat's best material to date and an absolutely excellent introduction to this high-octane, endlessly fun rock band, "Resist Not Evil" is a must-listen for any fan of rock music anywhere.
Rocketing out of the gate, "Resist Not Evil" is an immediate good time. It makes no promises, pulls no punches, and leaves all pretense at the door. The Idle Threat crew put their all into making music for fellow rockers to thrash to, and clearly have an excellent time doing it. Citing as main artistic influences classic metalheads like AC/DC, Pantera,
Metallica and Grinspoon, their music takes certain cues from all these but maintains a uniquely stripped down character that avoids annoying flash and unnecessary pomp. Theirs is a raw, true rock that sounds natural, brutal, hard, fast, and loud, with just a classic touch of glam.
Speaking of their impetus to make good music, Idle Threat writes, "We all grew up around our hometown of Albury, each listening to our favorite bands like AC/DC, Metallica, Iron Maiden,
Chili Peppers, and a whole bunch of other heavy artists. The solid sounds of the drums and the screaming guitars and vocals drove us all to pick up instruments ourselves and learn as many of their songs as we could."
Of course, it was a matter of time before Idle Threat needed to become part of what they were enjoying as spectators.
"After years of rocking out in our bedrooms, we all knew each other in some way (as you do in a small town) so we decided to start a band playing the covers we all love and creating our own, new music, influenced by all those that got us playing the instruments in the first place."
The themes of "Resist Not Evil" are not for the namby-pamby. Though its sound is not as violent as some latter-day hardcore acts, its messages are direct and appropriately volatile. It's nothing you'd want the kids to bring to kindergarten.
"It's got a 'sticking it to the man' attitude," comments Idle Fret. "It's all about rock 'n' roll, taking no prisoners, and embracing that little bit of evil. We love the sound of the pumping drums, loud guitars and shouting crowds, and we want to share it with as many people as we can!"
