London, UK (Top40 Charts/ Top Dollar PR) Game Art Connect Ltd today announced Sony Computer Entertainment
Europe will sponsor the debut Game
Music Connect conference to be held at Southbank Centre's Purcell Room, London on
September 9, 2013. Game
Music Connect is created for aspiring and professional composers of all backgrounds and those interested in learning about the art and science of composing today's cutting edge video game soundtracks.
The premiere Game
Music Connect event features a distinguished line-up of British and international A-list music talent including the award-winning composers of Sony's Killzone trilogy (Joris de Man), LittleBigPlanet 2 and LittleBigPlanet 2: The Muppets (Richard Jacques), as well as top audio directors from both independent and major developers and publishers including SCEE's
Music Production Manager, Alastair
Lindsay (WonderBook: Book of Spells).
"Game
Music Connect is unique," commented Alastair Lindsay,
Music Production Manager at SCE Worldwide Studios. "Having a full day event dedicated to video game music with some of the industry's top composers and Audio Directors is not to be missed. Lifting the lid on how both composers and developers work together will give a rare insight for anyone wanting to get into the industry or even if they just have an interest in video game music."
"We're honoured to have Sony onboard as a sponsorship partner for Game
Music Connect," said Game
Music Connect creator
James Hannigan. "Having their organisation support our inaugural event is a wonderful validation and shows, as always, the importance Sony attaches to creativity and great artistic content in games."
Game
Music Connect co-founder John Broomhall added: "We're also especially pleased that Alastair Lindsay,
Music Production Manager for SCEE's Worldwide Studios Creative Services Group, will be speaking at Game
Music Connect, bringing valuable insights on how the platform holder handles music commissioning and production out of the United Kingdom."
Alastair
Lindsay will be a guest speaker on the session, "PLATFORMERS' PERSPECTIVE Setting the music bar for next-gen games," revealing how one of the world's leading console game platforms maintains centralised service groups to support and augment game development teams, with music as a key component.
Lindsay will discuss his role within Sony's organisation and how they go about sourcing and working with both in-house and freelance composers including advice on the kind of skills, qualities and portfolio they expect from aspiring game music composers.
