Lanre cites as main artistic influences the likes of such legends as R. Kelly, Michael Jackson, Nina Simone,

As a result, Lanre grew up in a warm, rhythmic environment full of Bob Marley, Fela, Sade, Ebenezer Obey and King Sunny Ade albums. "These were my earliest influences in music," writes the singer. "Since when I was around 8 years old, I would spend considerable amounts of time (and water) in the bathroom singing these songs 'til I got them right. I still sing in the bathroom today."
Lanre was born in Festac Town of Lagos, Nigeria, and his music has all the gorgeous undertones of the rich culture and popular music of that locale.
